UPDATE- Our monthly pottery pop-up market will be on the 1st Saturday of the month and is located at the Clay Department 2301 South Presa in Southtown! The hours of this market are 10-3. Plan to arrive no earlier than 9 am for set up. Bring one 4-6 ft table and chair.

Sell your pottery SAPG members! This is a vendor opportunity to sell your work at our monthly pop-up market at The Clay Department, 2301 S. Presa, SATX 78210

Space is limited to the first 8 vendors who sign up.

Bring one 4-6 foot long table, your a-level table top displays and a chair.  This venue has covered spaces - in front of the shop or shared space under a canopy (provided). The customers are fun and are very interested in our ceramics.  Remember to draw them in  with interesting facts about how you make your art.

There is no vendor fee for this market. We ask our vendors to use their personal mailing lists and social media accounts to get the word out about the event.  SAPG and The Clay Dept will share on their accounts so please do tag us/@mention us so we can cross post.   The more we can all share the word about this market ahead of time the better the turnout for all.

Please email a couple pictures of your recent work to lisa@lisaaldenart.com,  use "clay dept pop up" in subject line, please include any information about your business and social media handles and website if you have one.  We will be creating a flyer for the pop-up that will be available to you for marketing and we would love it if you'd share it.   Any questions please reach out!

Set up begins at 9 am and plan to be ready to sell at 10 am.  Someone will be there to direct you to your spot.

If you can't be a vendor consider supporting your fellow SAPG ceramicists by stopping by with a friend or family to browse and shop if you see something you love!

Join us as we learn about making vessels for Ikebana: the Japanese art of Flower Arranging. We will be studying the forms of useful and desirable Ikebana vessels. Next we will be led by Maria Gould in creating  hand-built containers which can later be used in our June Family Day festival, if you wish (see note below.)

We will have templates to make this super easy for you.  Your creativity will take these functional pieces to the next level. Clay will be provided. Bring a container to take your wet piece home.  Guests may pay $5 each at the door.

Note: a plan is in the making to have our members sell their Ikebana pots and other wares at a June Celebration raising money for our Don Olsen Memorial Scholarship fund. Vendor tables for hand-made items of any style and media will be available for purchase at the SA Garden Center. More info on that coming!

Would you like to learn how to make your own damp box so you can keep your pieces moist and protected during different stages of construction?  Would you also like to learn how to mix and correctly apply kiln wash onto pre-fired cookies?   Steve Wheeler will lead this workshop.

For your damp box, you will need to bring a plastic storage container with a lid. You can find one at the Dollar Store, Walmart, Office Depot, Lowes, etc.  You will decide what size your box needs to be--whether it is long and shallow for smaller items, like cups and plates (18"x 14" 10"), or maybe you'll want a taller and deeper wet box if your work tends to be taller (17.2 qt.)  Keep in mind though, that you'll want to choose a box that you can store easily and carry around when it's full of heavy, wet, clay pieces. The lid is a must, so don't forget that!

We will provide the plaster for your wet box and help you mix it properly, which you will take with you at the end of the workshop.  We will also provide face masks and gloves.

In addition, we will provide kiln cookies that are ready for you to apply kiln wash.  Steve will help you learn the proper consistency and application method which you can also use on your kiln shelves. You will take the cookies with you.

This event is free to all members. Non-members can pay $5 on site. Light snacks will be available as well. Looking forward to seeing you!
